Twice Shy

Kobase is not a new type of creative agency—it’s a Creative OS. They focus on eliminating inefficiencies in traditional agency models by allowing clients to quickly assemble specialised teams tailored to their needs, all while retaining a core team of three that knows the client and its business inside out. Their tech platform streamlines collaboration, allowing clients to focus on achieving their creative vision without the hassles of conventional processes.

The brand idea we wanted to focus on centred around “Creativity without complexity.” While simplicity serves as the foundation, we aimed to express the dynamic nature of the company through a modular identity system. We used three simple line shapes as a reference to the trilogy that frequently appears in the brand—reflecting the fact that it was founded by three individuals and operates in teams of three. These shapes come together to form a "K," unlocking a variety of shapes and letters.

In motion, the three lines become an abstract asset, interacting at the intersection of 2D and 3D to add visual interest & intrigue. This interplay later played a larger role in the creation of simple line-based explainer animations. The movement is designed to be ambient—subtle yet continuous—creating a sense of flow and adaptability without overwhelming the viewer, reinforcing the idea of seamless collaboration and effortless creativity.

The wordmark is a customised version of Jokker, a sans-serif with subtle classical details that add a touch of sophistication. For the body font, we chose Saans, a friendly yet sleek contemporary typeface that complements the round shapes of the logo. This was paired with a colour palette primarily consisting of black and white, accented by bright colours to give the brand a contemporary, digital, and energetic feel while maintaining a mature, stripped-back aesthetic.
